Main Functions of the Division
  • Air Resources Management & International Relations is responsible for duties and functions related to Air Resource Management, Environmental Quality Management and International Relations.
     
  • Policy on air quality, implementation of Vehicle Emission Testing (VET) program, fuel quality improvements are the key areas coming under the air quality management. All the stakeholders are giving their contribution for the implementation of the above activities.
     
  • Policy formulation and implementation of water quality management and waste management, pilot projects on sustainable energy, education and awareness programs, environmental quality assessment and actions to attend the environmental related complains are  the main activities in the environmental quality management.
     
  • Facilitating activities related to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Global Environmental Facility (GEF), South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP), Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), World Conservation Union (IUCN), South Asia Seas Program (SASP) and other international environmental organizations and functioning as the National Focal Point for Basel Convention, Stockholm Convention and Strategic Approach to International Chemical Management (SAICM) are the key areas coming under the international relations division.
