Successful Start to Day One of the Sri Lanka NEXT Conference

The Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment commenced its first day of the Sri Lanka NEXT: €œA Blue-Green Era€ Conference and Exhibition€ with a soft launch at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Convention Hall. The three-day conference and exhibition that will continue till October 19, 2016 has a number of side events and parallel sessions the primary of which includes the 05th Asia-Pacific Climate Change Forum organised by the Asia Pacific Adaptation Network that will focus on the theme of €œadapting and living below 2*c: bridging gaps in policy and practice€.

Commemoration on World Environment Day 5th June 2016

Ministry of Mahawelie Development and Environment was commemorated World Environment Day Conference on Sustainable Environment on 5th June 2016. It was held at Edward Stadium in Matale. Biodiversity Secretariat was involved in following activities on that day. Chief gust was his Excellency President Maithripala Sirisena .

Expert & stakeholder workshop of UNEP/GEP funded project on “Mainstreaming biodiversity conservation and sustainable use for improved human nutrition and wellbeing”

The expert and key stakeholder workshop was conducted on the 19th of February 2016 from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 at the €œPlant Genetic Resources Centre€ Gannoruwa€ Peradeniya. It was conducted successfully €œachieving its goals of development of new project proposals to be facilitated and coordinated through the BFN project in the year 2016-2017
